I just saw it, and it was visually stunning. However, a word to the wise – the story is absolutely nothing like the book, according to my 11-year-old daughter. From her description, they could have named it anything and nobody would have realized it was based on the books.

Dude. DUUUUUDE. This is *exactly* the kind of movie that needs to be remade. First, the technology needs serious updating. It is painful. Second, and WAY more importantly, it is in desperate need of redeeming itself for all the horrible sexist mindset bullshit from the 50s that went from the writers brains (or other brains) to the script. NO WAY am I not happy about this. I will be first in line. (As long as they leave the robot as a moonshine machine.)
