UFO is coming around again (heh, get it?)
For those of you out there that follow antiquated British TV shows you might recall a show by the name of UFO. This was a TV series that aired in the UK back in 1970-71 for a total of 26 episodes. It was set 10 years in the future, 1980, and the earth is being taken over by aliens from outer space. These aliens are here to harvest human organs. Now if that doesn’t remind you of the TV series V I don’t know what will.
Well since Hollywood is out of ideas, someone found that they had the rights to this old show and are making it into a motion picture. Variety reports that Joshua Jackson, most recently from TV show Fringe fame, will be taking the lead role. It will be helmed by Matthew Gratzner, who has yet to direct a film, but has a laundry list of good special effects credits attached to his name.
I would like to see something become of this film. I do like Joshua as an actor and I remember watching the UFO
series when I was a kid, rebroadcast on Saturday afternoons. Not that I am implying the old TV show was a kids show, it was more in line with Star Trek in that it had adult elements but was age accessable. Regardless, it’s a good concept and can hopefully be pulled off well.
