Fan Rants Episode 20

Thursday, April 8th, 2010

FINALLY!  First off, let me apologise for the delay.  Life happens.  Please note that there are no sponsors for the show (and we aim to keep it that way), which means we do this podcast (and this website) because we love doing it.  What this means is that sometimes life can get in the way of editing or recording the podcast.  While we aim to be a weekly pod, the reality is that sometime we are going to be bi-weekly, or something thereabouts.  Heh, “bi”.

This week we talked about Captain America, Fringe, Legend of the Seeker, boobs, movie ticket prices, and all that fun stuff.  There’s also a little bit about which Trades we’re reading.  This episode was actually recorded a couple weeks before it’s airing, as is evidenced by our Alice in Wonderland talk, so if you think the news is stale (which I personally do not) then focus on our liberal use of the word “balls”.  I also say “F*ck” a lot, which should make the 10 year old in you giggle.  Wait, why is there 10 year old in you?

Music this week was provided by the artist Tab. The first few songs were off the album Nightmares Daydream {a Silent Film}.  The rest of the music was from the album Traveling in Stereo

Fringe to Continue for Another Season

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

According to Entertainment Weekly, Fringe has been picked up for a third season. This despite a tough time slot of Thursday nights and a low Nielsen rating. I can’t wait for the season to restart on April 1st!

Fringe taking a 7 week break

Fringetastic

God damn it so much Fox…

According to The Futon Critic, Fox is putting Fringe on a 7 week hiatus starting in February.  They SAY this is so that they won’t have to show any Fringe repeats during 2010, but the buzz has been buzzing that Fringe is “on the bubble”.  While Fringe is hiatusing, presumably on a beach somewhere in Mexico with a pretty girl and a belly full of rum, Fox will present its midseason offering drama “Past Life”, a new series about a pair of past-life detectives who investigate whether what is happening to you today is the result of who you were before.  Sounds lame.  BOO.  And how many times have we heard this line from Fox right before they cancel a show?  In my opinion, Fringe is one of the best shows on TV right now.  It doesn’t deserve to be anywhere near “on the bubble”.  Listen up Fox, don’t even think about canceling this show.

Is Flash Forward the best new show on TV? The best show on TV overall?

Monday, November 16th, 2009

So I was thinking about the little debate the Johnny and I were having in last weeks pod and now that I’ve had a little time to sober up and think about it… I’m going to stick with my comments about Flash Forward being the best show on TV right now. Fringe really is great and the stories are really engaging, but the overall arcing story is moving sooo slow. It was moved forward a tiny bit last week at then end of the episode, but it barely moved when compared to Flash Forward. Fringe may be the best overall show in the long run, but currently, I’d have to give that prize to Flash forward.
