Hit Girl is Kick-Ass
Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009Many will not be familiar with the comic Kick-Ass it has only been out about a year and is published by Icon. It details the life of a kid, Dave Lizewski, who decides he wants to be a super-hero. Now this is the real world, where people really can’t just go out dressed in a costume and expect to fight crime without some serious repercussions. And boy, does Dave get the shit kicked outta him.
But he heals and goes out again and again, eventually he is caught on film being a good Samaritan and is dubbed Kick-Ass. Eventually he runs into other costumed crime fighters, such as the duo Hit Girl and Big Daddy. Hit Girl may be a little girl, but she is acrobatic and martial arts trained, not someone to turn your back on.
When I first read this comic I thought it was an interesting take on the whole super-hero genre. With Mark Millar’s writing and John Romita Jr. drawing, I was quite impressed. One thing that impressed me more, they were able to sell the film rights after only 3 issues of the comic. And now, we will have a major motion picture out April 16th, 2010! Check out this trailer over at Comic Book Resources featuring Hit Girl (its a Red Band trailer though, so there is foul language)!
