Whoever wields this hammer…and by hammer I mean…
Thursday, July 29th, 2010One of the hot topics at that west coast convention last week (who’s name will not be mentioned since I couldn’t go) was Marvel Comics big movie for 2011, THOR!
The most excellent website io9 has got the full trailer available for your enjoyment. And it should certainly set your expectations. I was especially mesmorized when Anthony Hopkins was doing his best Marlon Brando from Superman impression.
Fan Rants 24 – The Cuts – Marvel Movies
Thursday, May 13th, 2010These are Fan Rants, THE CUTS. These are items that we recorded, but were cut out because the episode ran long. They are generally pretty short, UNEDITED, and do not have music playing in the background. Unedited means more “so”, “um”, and burps for your bucks! These cuts are from the last episode, number 24. There is a cut segment abouthow Marvel is going to make more movies featuring their lesser known chatacters. All in all, it’s less than 10 minutes. You will know when it’s done when you hear the lound belch. Did I mention that these are unedited? They are.

Marvel Is Stripping DC Comics
Thursday, January 14th, 2010Years ago, before there were such things as Comic Book stores, retailers of periodicals would get credit for unsold items by sending back the top portion of the cover. This is still done by some book retailers but it was never presented as an opportunity for comic book stores.
This week, Marvel announced in a press release that they will be having a special variant edition of Seige #3 with Deadpool on the cover. How do you get this ultra rare comic? The only way is to send in 50 strips (top portion of a comic book cover) to Marvel. Oh, and not just any 50 strips, but specific DC comics:
- Adventure Comics #4
- Booster Gold #26
- Doom Patrol #4
- Justice League Of America #39
- Outsiders #24.
- R.E.B.E.L.S #10
Wow…I don’t know if I should be shocked by this or not. It’s really not going to affect the small comic retailers as several of these sold out quickly and 50 comics is quite a few to trade in for a single variant covered comic. The large retailers, or those who REALLY goofed on their numbers, can benefit from the exclusive. But to me this really smacks at a war cry between the publishers.
Perhaps the gloves are coming off now that DC Entertainment is handling film/TV rights a little more aggressively. Perhaps Marvel is a little jealous at the great response the Blackest Night story arc had at DC comics. All I want to know is how DC will respond or retaliate.
Marvel and Disney mashup poster!
Tuesday, December 15th, 2009Awesome poster by T Campbell and John Waltrip. I don’t know which I like better, the fact that Cinderella’s castle is flying flags for Dr Doom…or the dollar signs appearing in Scrooge McDucks eyes as he gaggles over Spider-Man! Go buy one now!!!
