I am only guessing that he won a bet with the producer or something and wanted the job.

So far we have Jonathan Winters as Papa Smurf, Katy Perry as Smurfette and Neil Patrick Harris in an undisclosed role. This is really shaping up to be an all-star (if rather dysfunctional) cast.

Film to be released in 2011, surprised it’s not 2012 since that is when the world is supposed to end.
